Mission Statement

We, the Rachel J. Smith – Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, do endeavor to make possible opportunities and resources to meet the changing needs and concerns of people throughout the local church and community, do offer a fellowship so strong, a message so convincing and so enthusiastically contagious, that the gospel through us will be at work throughout our homes and community. 

Purpose

The purpose of Mount Zion’s WMS shall be to help people to grow in the knowledge and experience of God through His Son, Jesus Christ, through continual Christian training, as well as individual and collective mission work whereby challenging individuals to respond to God’s redemptive plan in the world.

We seek to fellowship with people in our local church and community by initiating and maintaining a support system that will enable individuals to achieve fulfillment.

We seek to provide material and programs which will enable members of Mount Zion to become mission conscious and involved in the same.

We seek to coordinate and unify the work of the local WMS structure for maximum involvement and effectiveness.

We seek to be the advocate for the editorial and educational arms of the Society in our community.

And, we seek to serve as an advocate for human rights for everyone.
